ABOUT FIKA
Let’s create placeswhere travelers from all over the world meet.
For anyone thinking about joining us. Here is a short introduction to FIKA Co., Ltd. If you think “this sounds interesting,” let’s have a casual chat.

WHAT IS FIKA
What kind of company is FIKA?
FIKA creates places where travelers to Japan can say “That was fun!” We run a hostel brand called UNPLAN. The name comes from the English word “unplanned.” Even on a trip with no plan, you can meet someone unexpected and find a view you did not expect. We want to make places like that. That is the feeling behind the name.
And this is not only about our guests. We want the same thing for the people who work here — a team full of unexpected encounters.

MISSION
Let’s create an environment where travelers to Japan can enjoy a fun and comfortable trip!
Let’s become a team that creates services, and produce joy and surprise!

AREAS
Where are we, and what do we do?

TOKYO / KAGURAZAKA
Tokyo / Kagurazaka
A quiet, grown-up neighborhood with an old Japanese atmosphere. Besides the hostel, we run a café (“Gather”), a Finnish-style private sauna (“tune”), and a late-night parfait shop (“Koyoi no Parfait”).
TOKYO / SHINJUKU
Tokyo / Shinjuku
The busiest area in Tokyo, full of travelers from all over the world. “Encounter,” the bar in the basement, is also popular with people who are not staying with us. On October 13, 2026, we also opened “Gather by UNPLAN,” a gelato shop from Florence.
NAGANO / HAKUBA
Nagano / Hakuba
Skiing in winter, trekking in summer. This is the area with the most businesses in the FIKA group — hostels, hotels, a Japanese inn, cafés, bars and saunas. (Operated by YamaAi Crew Co., Ltd.)
FUKUOKA
Fukuoka
Known as “the gateway to Asia.” Many guests come from Korea, China and Taiwan. We also run a café, develop the menu, post on social media, and plan tours and events.
OVERSEAS / NEPAL
Overseas (Nepal)
Since 2026, we have been opening a hotel in Kathmandu. Nepalese members who worked at UNPLAN in Japan have gone back to lead the opening.
We will talk with you about where you would like to work.
WORK STYLE
What is it like to work at FIKA?

01
“I want to try this” can happen right away
“I want to run an event.” “I want to start a bar.” “I want to create a new drink.” At FIKA, members think of these things and start them by themselves.
02
Learn a lot, close to the leadership team
Our leadership team is close and easy to talk to, in a flat and open way. At the weekly managers’ meeting, they comment on each item. We also hold two company retreats a year and training with outside professionals, so there are many chances to learn.
03
From part-time to manager, or to opening a place overseas
At FIKA there are people who started part-time and became a manager, who became the president of our group company in Hakuba, and who are now opening a hotel in Nepal. Nationality does not matter, and neither does how you joined. The role goes to the person who says “I want to do it.”
04
Members come from many countries
About 60% of our full-time staff are from outside Japan — Nepal, Sweden, France, Italy, Canada, Australia, the Philippines, Myanmar and more. It is fine if your Japanese is not perfect.
CULTURE
FIKA’s culture
We keep these five things in mind every day and work on them as a team.
Bright, energetic and positive
We try to be bright and positive — with our guests, and with the people we work alongside.
Always challenge
We value “just try it.” Failure is part of the way to success.
Professional
We want to take pride in our work and see it through with responsibility.
Respect
We want to accept each other’s different ways of thinking and talk on equal footing.
Speed
We put things out without waiting for perfect. That is how we like to move.
VOICE
Read what our members say
We publish interviews with the people who actually work here. This is the fastest way to get a feel for FIKA. (The articles are in Japanese.)

POSITIONS
Open positions
We are hiring full-time, part-time, and free accommodation (you work in exchange for free lodging) in Tokyo, Hakuba and Fukuoka.
If you are even a little interested, let’s talk!
This is not an interview. We start with a casual chat to get to know each other. No resume needed. It is fine if you are not confident in Japanese yet — some of our members speak English.
